| | You can find water sports activities including motorized and sunfish sailers at most beaches on the island. Most hotels have a water sports desk or an affiliate watersports provider. You will also find individual operators on the beach offering jetski, banana boats and parasailing. Below you will find our general price guide. |
Self Propelled |
| Despite the attempts of many, there are no private beaches on the island. The queens chain, which is usually the difference between the high and low tides is what prevents the privitization of the beaches. No matter where the beach is you are allowed to use it. All land owners must provide public access to the beach by law. Some hotels make it difficult but this is becoming less of an issue. Prices vary depending on which water sports desk you are using with prices as follows: Kayaking US$10, Snorkeling US$20, Swimming free. |
Wind propelled | | Kitesurfing is a growing sport on the island moving from cult to international status. With the annual St. Lucia Kite Surfing fiesta from 27th - 28th March, professional and leisure riders a-like are flocking to the town of Vieux Fort in the south of the island. Located a few minutes from the main airport (Hewannora) the quiet beaches mixed with strong winds provide everything a surfer looks for. Prices range as follows: Sunfish sailors US$40, Windsurfing US$25, KiteSurfing US$30. |
Motorised | | Most motorised watersports are operated by private individuals or companies and not operated under the insurance of any watersports desk. It is advisable to double check your travel insurance before taking part in any of these activites. As a guiding principle, if your insurer covers you for skiing and snowboarding then you should be covered for these. If you are not covered, speak to any watersports desk or hotel concierge to arrange cover. If this is not an option or unavailable confirm with the operator that they are covered and ask to see their cover note or for the details of their policy. Prices range as follows: Jetski US$40 for 30 minutes, Banana boats US$10 per person, Water Skiing US$20 if proficient, US$35 if a lesson is required, Wake Boarding US$20 if proficient, US$35 if a lesson is required, Parasailing US$50. |
