Hiring a car offers you the freedom to see and experience the island at your own pace. Driving in the caribbean has its own unique set of cultural rules. Driving is on the LEFT and you will require a temporary permit to drive on the island that can be purchased from any local police station or car rental agent. The permit is valid for three months, costs EC$54 OR US$20 and you must have it with you as well as your driving licence when driving on the island. All bookings require a credit card deposit with the final payment being taken on return of the vehicle. For more information view our average rates below or email

Most rental firms stock automatic transmission vehicles and you should state at the time of booking whether you are unfamilir with driving this type of transmission. | Below are our top two tips from those who hae driven on the island: Make eye contact with other drivers signalling you to complete a manouevre especially at a junction. Look left, right, left, right, left right and then again to be sure. Trust your instincts - if a road is not well lit or paved, very steep up or down hill, you don't have a four wheel drive or your partner keeps repeating "I think this is the wrong road", then it probably is. Return to the main road and ask for directions Saint Lucians loving being helpful.
| Remember that although you are sightseeing people live and work on the island and need to get around - some quicker than others. So instead of braking slowly or suddenly on a main road, look in your rear view for traffic and if there is traffic pull over to the side and let them by then continue your sightseeing. This, however should not be done on the highway or in the city of Castries. For more information or to make a booking email
